Our Guests Love it!
A star in Grand Central Grand Central Station was even more interesting than I’d thought it would be, and our guide, Jonathan, made it so entertaining! He engaged each member of the group throughout the tour, he was warm and funny, but also brimming with facts to remember. He maintained order in the busy surroundings and was considerate to our group members, employees doing their jobs, and the general public. I will recommend Untapped and Jonathan to everyone I know.
Entertaining and informative We learnt so much about the history of Grand Central Station and our guide, who was an entertaining character, knew so much about the building and tiles us many gems of information. I highly recommend the tour and my teen (14), who enjoys history, really took a lot from it too.
Richard, gilded age mansions very good Took the Gilded Age Mansion tour with Richard. Very informative and friendly. He’s an NYC resident and has some good personal views.
Easy meet up location and good pace. Richard was always asking for questions and happy to answer them.
Enjoyed this tour. Thanks Richard
Got our Gilded Age fix Great way to explore 5th Ave, our guide Richard was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. A good way to spend a nice fall afternoon outside.
A fascinating tour of some art deco buildings in midtown Manhattan My husband and I had a beautiful Fall day for this enlightening Underground Art Deco Architecture tour. Our Untapped New York guide was Justin. He was so friendly and knowledgeable about all things NYC. We started inside Grand Central Station and learned some of its secrets as we walked across an inactive track to see other hidden tracks. Then we came up to the street and visited the Chrysler building which is an art deco masterpiece. I’m a life-long New Yorker and hadn’t taken notice of the art deco designs on the facades of some of the buildings located around Grand Central Station and Rockefeller Center and within their lobbies. Justin pointed out the fascinating art deco motifs at the back of the Chrysler building and on the facade of the Graybar Building, among other overlooked buildings. Be advised that this tour requires a fair amount of walking, both in the street and up and down subway steps. My phone registered a walking distance of 3 miles. However, I highly recommend this tour.
Secrets of East Village Absolutely loved this “Secrets of East Village” tour, the guide had so many interesting facts to share from the neighborhood’ history. Would recommend to a friend
Wonderful tour of Grand Central Station Richard gave us a fantastic tour of GCS–loaded with history and fun facts while pointing out the features of the station that we’d passed by without noticing dozens of times. Who knew there was an actual tennis court in the building that is still in use? Who knew there’s a spiral staircase inside the information booth that leads down to the food court? Highly recommend this tour for both tourists and locals.
An Enjoyable Experience A really interesting and enjoyable experience with a delightful and knowledgeable tour guide. We learnt so much about the history of Grand Central Terminal backed up by pictures showing the changes to the building over the years. I have already told friends and family that the tour is well worth undertaking. We were all fascinated to see a tennis court in the terminal!
We enjoyed the Secrets of the Grand Central Station Walking Tour very much! We enjoyed the Secrets of Grand Central Station Walking Tour very much! Our tour guide, Richard, was well-versed, informing us not only about the history of this architectural gem but showed us areas we would never have known existed. Who knew that there is a tennis court within the Station? We always take tours when in NY and felt that this was another tour well done!
Great inside tour of Grand Central While trying to find a rainy day activity, we came across this tour on google. We were very impressed with the tour guide and how extensively we were able to explore the history behind Grand central station! Would highly recommend for a unique experience especially on a rainy day.

Grand Central is worth a visit. Very interesting tour. Amazing place to visit Tour group was small and you were given earpieces to listen to the tour guide. The guide was very good and knew his stuff. Definitely worth doing.
Wonderful walk up 5th Avenue through the Gilded Age. Our Guide Laurie, was very knowledgeable and entertaining. At each stop along 5th Avenue we saw amazing architecture and learned about the history and current residents of the buildings. The size of the group about 12 people made it easy to hear the guide who spoke clearly and loud enough for everyone to hear. Great way to spend an afternoon in NYC.
Great tour & tour guide Superb tour with our female tour guide, we think her name was Katherine, she was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the history of this phenomenonal building. We weren’t going to bother with the walking tour & planned on just seeing the station ourselves but sooo glad we did…She brought the whole building to life and explained in great detail each of the hidden places we visited. We had to run off at the end as we had a tour booked at the Music City Hall so we didn’t get chance to thank her in person but she was a fantastic guide.Thank you very much, would highly recommend
A Great Tour Richard was our tour guide. He was friendly and knowledgable. He is also familiar with the current HBO series on this topic. He brings the history to life with many photos and backstories. He also provides some interesting general info on living in NYC – both then and now. He gave us a recommendation for a great nearby cafe and info on how not to get lost in Central Park.
Excellent tour with excellent tour guide Richard our guide was a fount of knowledge, showing us round and about many areas of the terminal you wouldn’t normally see. He knew everything there was to know about all aspects of the terminal, and it was a fascinating into its history. We would thoroughly recommend this tour.
Loved this tour so much! I cannot speak highly enough of this tour and our guide, Hazel! Over the course of two hours, I learned so much about the architecture and the dramatic stories behind some of the city’s oldest buildings. Hazel was funny and incredibly engaging and even as a New Yorker, it was one of the most fun experiences in the city I’ve had. Thank you so much and would honestly do it again!
5 STAR Review of Gilded Age Walking Tour The walking tour of the Gilded Age Mansions on Fifth Avenue was one of the highlights of our trip to NYC. Our guide, Richard, not only filled us in on the architectural details of these stately mansions but also the fascinating stories behind each. Both my sister and I are fans of the Gilded Age tv series and Edith Wharton novels. Our guide’s knowledge and love of these mansions was more than evident. Richard’s walking tour made the Gilded Age come to life.
Fun informative way to fill some free time in the city. The GC Station tour was informative, interesting, fun and an overall excellent way to spend some time between arrival in the city and my evening plans. It got perhaps a little long (more than 90 minutes), but may have been due to the size of the group (relatively large).
Absolutely Outstanding Guide Our tour guide yesterday was one of the best guides we’ve ever had. Very well organized, concise, interesting and entertaining. We learned a lot. I would book anything. We were very interested in learning about the Gilded Age Mansions, and we did, but I would sign up for anything other tours he led regardless of the topic
Beautiful buildings! Fantastic tour on the Upper East Side featuring mansions and private clubs of The Gilded Age. My cousins and I are all obsessed with the HBO show and enjoyed seeing some remaining homes & buildings from that era. The only thing that could have made it better was if more buildings from that time period were still around instead of being lost to new development. Our guide was friendly and informative, the walking length was very manageable, and we even spotted a celebrity walking their dog along 5th Avenue! If you are a fan of NYC, history, HBO’s The Gilded Age, and/or Architecture, this tour is for you!
