November 2025 tour with Pete I had a great afternoon exploring the subway with Pete and a small group. He provided excellent facts and told the story of the subway’s origins. We got to see hidden details and views of abandoned stations I never noticed before. I highly recommend this tour!

Great Learning Experience for Families/Teenagers We took this tour with our teenage sons for my husband’s birthday trip to NYC. Our guide was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and we learned a lot and had fun. We especially enjoyed checking out some of the abandoned stations and looking at beautiful tile mosaics and other decorative station elements from the early 20th century. Highly recommend!

Very interesting and worth knowing tour Very interesting tour. It was a bit hard for us to find the meeting place, but that worked out well. In a small group we were informed about the historical background of public transport and today’s metro. The guide also had pictures on the tablet. The tour then went over some subway stations with interesting information about each. The tour was in English.

NY Subway Tour Such an enjoyable tour of the metro system. We saw and experienced things we would have otherwise missed, the highlights of which included abandoned stations.

Fun and culturally enriching! Our guide Rayn was beyond knowledgeable and a great story teller. My wife and I live in Manhattan and really enjoyed learning more about the vast network of tunnels right beneath our feet. I highly recommend this tour!

Great tour of nyc subway system! Our tour guide, Rayn, was fantastic. He is very personable and made the whole group feel a part of the tour. It was clear that the NYC subway system is a passion for Rayn and his energy for the topic was infectious. The tour included history, art, information about the transit system itself, and nyc. It was a perfect blend to keep the whole thing engaging. Hopping from train to train and station to station was fun. We all gained a new appreciation for the marvel of the nyc transit system. Definitely recommended.

Great lessons on the subway system of NYC We learned so much on this tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared many details. It was busy, going from station to station, looking at structure, art, placement. Even showing us old stations from the windows as we passed by. It was fascinating. Enjoyed it so much.

Fun facts about downtown New York Very nice, lots of facts about downtown New York, history and of course the subway. Sometimes a lot of noise while searching the subway platform. Definitely recommend for please want to see something else from New York.

Good Introduction to the NYC Subway System Enjoyed this tour very much! A.J. was our most knowledgeable guide. He arrived and ended on time, and he shared lots of info through words & photos. I learned how the subway system came into being and something about how it has continued until today. We entered at the Fletcher Center and the rest of the tour was moving to and from maybe 5-6 stations, ending with the 6 train turn-around in a very special place not to be named… 🙂 Also, I personally love subway art, so seeing that in the stations we stopped in was very enjoyable. This is not going to give you a ride advisory of the existing NYC subway system, but it’s a good way to learn the basics.

About This Tour:

Explore the world’s largest subway system, the beating heart of the city that never sleeps. On this guided New York subway walking tour you will discover the fascinating beginnings of the New York City subway, and explore spaces even the most seasoned commuter might not know about. We will discover the story of the very first subway which was built illegally under the cover of night and many other surprising stories. Using the 6 train as our own ten-car time machine, we will also ride through and see abandoned stations that riders unknowingly pass by everyday, including the famed City Hall Station. The subway tour will end in one of the latest transportation hubs of lower Manhattan where we will discuss of mass transit in NYC.

Please note that although you will see abandoned subway stations from the train, the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) does not grant public access into them under any circumstances.

Guests will need one MetroCard swipe or OMNY tap to enter the subway.
