Super knowledgeable guide. Interesting tour I had read a book this year about Amsterdam settling Manhattan so I was super excited for this tour to be able yo put my eyes on some of the things I had read. The tour guide Mandy was the best of the best guide for this. So knowledgeable and clearly loved sharing the info on this tour. Plus she had great insight into other things to see and read. The tour was all I hoped it would be.
KaraSil10During our recent vacation, my husband and I had the pleasure of Justin’s company during a private tour and had an incredible time. Discovering Untapped New York is the only tour company to offer a New Amsterdam guided tour around Southern Manhattan. I corresponded with Justin to set up a private walking tour for their “Remnants of New Amsterdam” as a belated birthday gift for my husband, and Justin was professional in all his communications, accommodating for our schedule, and made the reservation process easy. Despite a hiccup on the morning of our tour, Justin personally met us at the starring point and was our guide for the morning. Since he researched and created the tour, it really elevated the experience for us and the depth of his knowledge, his passion for the subject, and plethora of visual aids brought colonial-era New Amsterdam to life within the modern day urban sprawl that is now Southern Manhattan. Although we knew some of the history already, Justin enhanced our understanding and provided new details that broadened our view of the fledgling city of commerce. I cannot recommend Untapped New York and Justin’s exemplary service enough, and highly encourage locals and tourists alike to participate in the multitude of tours they offer. Whenever our next vacation to the Big Apple is, I will certainly reserve a other tour with them.
happylioneatsprey - Had a great tour by Richard yesterday on the history of Dutch New Amsterdam. It was definitely worth it, so I can recommend!Alex Pietrow
Awesome tour! well worth the time! The tour was awesome! Having deep New Amsterdam roots herself, Mandy our guide brought characters and places from 400 years ago back to life. Her modern day insight and deep historical knowledge provided a great perspective and balance of the good and not so good events. Because of the time we spent with her I have a much better understanding of my past and the past we all share because of this little island. Congrats to a job well done by Untapped New York and I would highly recommend their tours. I will make it a point to call on them again when in the area. The problem is which tour is next!

A Must Walking Tour of old New Amsterdam Mandy our tour guide was a wealth of knowledge from an historical perspective and anthropological perspective she had all the answers!!! Being a history buff it was great to enhance my recollection of NY ‘s past and walk in the footsteps of our ancestors. The personal connection that Mandy has to our forefathers was also an added plus. Remnants of New Amsterdam tour is a must thing to do for locals and tourists!!!
